Redeveloping our substation
The first part of the South Waikato Grid Connection project is to replace the building at our Putāruru substation.
We’re currently installing our 11kV switchboard equipment at our substation and installing new cabling through Putāruru. This replaces the existing equipment, in preparation for the new Grid Connection.
This work should be complete by December 2020.
We’ll be demolishing the old building and building our new 33kV switchroom at the substation site in 2021.
The transformer equipment will then be replaced to complete the substation upgrade.
Once the circuit from Transpower's Arapuni substation is built, it will terminate at the substation.
