Katikati outage - 7:30pm update

Powerco has arranged for generators to power the remaining 263 Katikati customers still without electricity this evening.

The generators are on-site and connection to the network has begun. Customers’ supply is estimated to be restored via generation by 10pm, and Powerco thanks customers for their patience and understanding as field crews work to restore supply. 

Of the original 789 customers who lost supply just after 9am today, 263 remain without power. 

Investigations are on-going into the fault in an underground cable which is believed to have led to the outage.
