[Weekday] [Date] August morning update

Good morning, please refer to our outages map for information about who is affected by today's rolling outages: Outages

What's happening?

Like all power lines companies around New Zealand we’ve been asked by Transpower to disconnect customers (amounting to 5% load) through rolling outages.

These rolling outages are taking place to reduce electricity demand.

If you will be affected, you should have been notified by your electricity retailer (the company you pay your power bill to) of the dates and times.

  • You can check if you'll be affected by a rolling outage using your address in our planned outages webpage here: Planned outage
  • You can check today's outages on our outage map here: Outages

We know it’s hard to be without power, but if we don’t take this step now, we risk much more widespread outages and longer lasting power cuts in the near future.

Thank you for your understanding.

And a reminder to please leave our emergency lines for emergencies.

Why are rolling outages necessary?

New Zealand's hydro lakes are at record low levels for August and no significant rain is forecast.

Rolling outages are planned outages of electricity supply to reduce demand as fairly and equitably as possible in order to lessen the risk of more widespread and longer lasting unplanned outages.

If you're impacted by a rolling outage you should be notified by your retailer (the company you pay your power bill to).
