Powerco managing electricity load - 7pm

Powerco is currently responding to a Transpower request for electricity lines companies to reduce load on the national grid.

Controlled hot water systems across Powerco’s electricity network areas have been temporarily switched off to reduce network load and avoid the need to disconnect any customers.

Customers’ hot water systems will progressively be switched back on through the night once peak power load has passed and Transpower provides instructions to do so.

People will still have hot water, however, Powerco advises customers keep their hot tap use to a minimum as hot water systems could take longer to reheat after use this evening.
